SEO for Bristolian independent act Southsection

It’s not a big secret, that Bristol is a cradle of many great well known music acts and musicians. Muscat and his project Southsection represents Bristol’s independent scene at it’s best. This band has been playing since 1999 and released more than ten albums  to date. Muscat has a big fan base and not only in Bristol. You can listen or download Southsection and Muscat tracks from the Amazon, Besonic, Reverbnation, Soundcloud or LastFM.

I decided to help sorting out some issues with band’s web site and start SEO campaign, so the word… or I should better say SOUND about Southsection will spread around our tiny universe :)

Should I be concerned about the fate of content I give to Google?

I was recently invited by my mate to join Google + , and I’ve joined it. Not because I don’t like Facebook anymore, but just, because, well you know…it’s new stuff. And then I ran into Scott Bourne’s blog at Photofocus and that made me think a bit. Specially when reading Google Terms of Service and specifically paragraph 1.11, which say:

By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.”

Scott points out importance of Google’s terms for professional photographers, but maybe we all should be more concerned about it. I’m not trying to make you all panic or bring to the life new paranoia :) Just curious, what is Facebook’s or any other social networks policy according our own licenced content?

SEO Site Review for the mobile game from uWaver.

Last year, in August of 2010 I was helping to setup Google Analytics and Google AdWords account for one mobile game web site www.udigits.com. Yesterday I contacted guys from the company (uWaver) and as a result I was signed to run SEO campaign for them. Starting it all with a review (thanks to the amazing post about SEO review step by step from Tom Critchlow) and looking forward to see  some good results, or am i too optimistic? :)

Few more pictures representing the game, just to make this post look a bit more colorful :)

Finished SEO moz’s Guide to SEO!

Read the Beginner's Guide to SEO

Well, it took me few difficult and at the same time very exciting days to accomplish this mission,- I’ve just finished reading “The Beginner’s Guide to SEO“, which is available on SEO moz web site. I’m also half way to digest another great book “The Art of SEO“. This book is written by SEO masters of the market Eric Enge, Stephan SpencerRand Fishkin and Jessie Stricchiola.   Actually the Beginner’s Guide is like a compressed version of this book.

I used to work in web site building business and I have the basic knowledge of search engine optimization, site architecture and usability. Now I want to improve and learn more useful tips and I’m dangerously getting deeper into this subject. If you are looking for SEO related reading, I would highly recommend the Beginner’s guide as your first choice and then you simply know where you would like to move further.
